On January 5, Boston Immanuel Church offered a graceful Sunday service to God with the message titled, “Be fruitful and increase in number” from Genesis 1:28-28.
The preacher delivered the sermon and explained the meaning of being fruitful, the first commandment from God to Adam. Jesus became the first fruit in humanity(Col 1:15) and we should keep this commandment of God following Jesus. Being fruitful means having a right relationship with God, we call it faith, in other words, the loving relationship.
And to be a fruitful person who loves God, we need to know God’s love first. As God is the perfect love(Matt 5:48) and he loved us first before we love him(1 John 4:19).
When we look at Jesus, the perfect image and reflection of God’s love, we can know the love of God for us. And when we have this loving relationship with God, we can love our brothers and sisters(1 John 4:19-21).
May Boston church members keep the greatest commandment of God with their lives in the new year.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
